Manga comes to Rotherham

PROMISING artists can learn more about the magic of Manga thanks to a series of summer workshops.

Three-days courses helping youngsters sharpen up their skills in the Japanese cartoon-style artwork are being held at Swinton and Maltby libraries and run by artist Leah Simpson.

Sessions at Swinton Library will take place from Monday, August 13 to Wednesday, August 15, while Maltby Library will play host to creative types on from Monday, August 20 to Wednesday, August 22.

Each session will last two hours from 2.30pm and artists will be expected to sign up for all three sessions.

All artwork will be displayed at the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, author Margaret McAllister will visit Rawmarsh library to talk about her own dreams of writing as she grew up on the north-east coast.

She will be at Rawmarsh Library on Friday, August 17 at 2.30pm.

All the events are free but places must be booked in advance by calling into your local library or calling Children’s Services on 01709 815123.
