Maltby’s mining history in focus

FAMILY and local historians are in for a real treat next week with a journey into Maltby’s mining heritage.

Mining historian Brian Elliott will be visiting Maltby Library at 2pm on Thursday to share his expertise with members and friends of Maltby Local History Society.

In an informal Meet the Author session, Mr Elliott will give a presentation about his new book Tracing Your Coalmining Ancestors — A Guide for Family Historians.

Mr Elliott’s father and brothers were miners so he will draw on the history of his own family and the area as well as on the meticulous work he undertook, in archives and museums throughout the United Kingdom, while researching his latest book.

Admission is free and non-members are invited to attend.
