Macmillan coffee mornings round-up

COFFEE-LOVING fund-raisers will be brewing up their beans later this week for the annual fund-raising push for cancer victims.

The official date for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning falls on Friday, with hopes high of breaking last year’s South Yorkshire record of 3,884 coffee mornings raising a bumper £418,932.

MP John Healey and charity Rush House both got in early with their own fund-raisers on Friday and teams of other fund-raisers will be in action to use coffee to boost the charity’s coffers this week, with the Advertiser holding its own coffee morning on Thursday.

All of the money raised from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is used to fund local services to support people affected by cancer.

Macmillan’s area fund-raising manager for South Yorkshire, Steve Loane, said: “We are very grateful to everyone across South Yorkshire who supports Macmillan.

“We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

“Every pound raised by those taking part in events like this helps us be there for someone with cancer when they need us most so ask your friends, family or work mates to come for coffee and raise some money to support Macmillan.”
