Grateful Leeann stages music night for hospital

A GRATEFUL parent has organised an evening of live music to raise funds for burns unit staff that helped her son.

Leeann Heptinstall (36) has enlisted the help of friends Fliss and Georgina Hunter to raise funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital on April 13.

Leeann’s son Jack Tingle was treated by staff at the burns unit after an accident involving a kettle that left him scarred for life.

Seven-year-old Jack, a pupil at Wath Victoria School, was three at the time of the accident and has made a full recovery, for which his mum credits the nursing team.

She said: “At the time of the accident, our council house was being renovated so we were living upstairs.

“I’d gone to answer a knock at the door and Jack pulled the kettle on himself while trying to reach an Easter egg.

“He got a really bad injury and was in for three weeks. He had to have skin grafts and the staff there were absolutely fantastic.

“They couldn’t have cared for him any better and the after-care was also unbelievable.”

Leeann added: “This is our second fund-raiser for them and our way of saying thank you.”

The free event at the Telstar Pub on Quarry Hill Road in Wath starts at 7pm and will feature live music from Scott Mortimer, pie and peas, an auction and raffle.

Donated items include signed football merchandise, photo shoots and Titans tickets.
