Gentle ballet horror for all the family

TRAMPOLINING elves, magical dancing and a gentle horror story are all in store for family theatre-goers next month.

Northern Ballet bringing to life a timeless story with their family-friendly version of The Elves and the Shoemaker — the latest in Northern Ballet's award-winning series of Short Ballets for Small People, which already includes The Ugly Duckling and Three Little Pigs.

 Northern Ballet has re-imagined the famous Brothers Grimm story about a poor and hard-working shoemaker who receives some much-needed help from two elves.

This heart-warming production will last about 40 minutes.

Daniel de Andrade, choreographer and artistic director said: “We are absolutely delighted to be giving young children and their families the opportunity to experience our latest children's ballet.

“The children’s ballets are classic tales beautifully retold through dance and are a perfect introduction to ballet.

“We hope to inspire children and their families through these entertaining and enchanting performances to develop a love for live dance, music and theatre.”

Northern Ballet’s Elves and The Shoemaker is at The Civic on Wednesday, March 18, at 12.15pm, 2pm and 4pm. Tickets are £5. Recommended for ages three and over.
