Football and fun combine in Mexborough

FUN-loving junior footballers look set to flock to an event which combines coaching, a football tournament and a family fun day.

The team from Mexborough Life Church, on New Oxford Road, will be hosting their Football Crazy event, for the fifth time, from Thursday (2) until Saturday (4).

Following on from last year’s World Cup-themed event it is hoped that more than 100 children will take part.

Steve Hunt, one of a team of volunteer organisers, said: “Last year we had the World Cup theme which obviously appealed to people, but this year we have combined the football tournament with a fun day for all the family and we hope that this will draw in even more people.”

    Football Crazy will kick-off with coaching and games for youngsters aged seven to 11 taking place from 5.30pm to 7pm and ten and 11-year-olds taking part between 7pm and 8.30pm, on both Thursday and Friday.

    The tournament and family fun day will follow, taking place between 11am and 5pm on Saturday.

    The Football Crazy event will take place at Mexborough Academy School, Maple Road, Mexborough.
