Ferry across Mexborough boost

CAMPAIGNERS bidding to bring Mexborough’s historic ferryboat crossing back are buzzing after a £1,000 shot in the arm from a coffee chain.

The Mexborough Ferryboat Association have been allocated the cash from Starbucks through its festive campaign Red Cup Cheer.

Group member Tracey Gibbons said: “This will be used to purchase equipment and materials for the project.

“We wish to thank all our supporters and followers on Facebook and Twitter for their help in securing this.”

The association’s first meeting of 2016 will be held at the Ferryboat pub on Church Street next Monday (18) at 7.30pm, with volunteers old and new welcome to attend.
