Dry stone wallers boost Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity

A RELATIONSHIP built by dry stone wallers in the Dearne Valley has resulted in a much-needed charity contributions.

Don Gorge Community Group Conservation Volunteers began restoring the wall along the boundary between Cusworth and Sprotbrough after demonstrating their skills at Cusworth Country Fair with  the Peak Park Rangers.

The wall is some 335 metres long and is owned by Jim Brough and his daughter, Kelly.

Now the relationship between the father and daughter and the volunteer group has grown and the pair have been given advice and training on “walling”.

The volunteers have not been paid but Jim and Kelly have made donations in kind to charities, as well as giving Christmas gifts as a thank you for their efforts.

In 2015, £500 was donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and this has been their charity of choice once again, with air ambulance representative Anne Swann was on hand to receive the cheque.
