Doing something funny for money? Send us your Comic Relief pictures!

ROTHERHAM will be going silly for a good cause this week as thousands of fundraisers gear up to do their bit for Comic Relief.

Schools, workplaces and families across the borough will be getting in the spirit with a range of weird and wonderful charity events.

The fun started last week with a night of music and entertainment at Rotherham Trades Club and continued on Monday when young dancers from the So Damn Kreative at Dinnington joined residents of Woodlands Care Home at North Anston for a performance of the Harlem Shake.

But most of the cash will be collected on Friday — Red Nose Day itself — with activities going on throughout the day.

Dearne Valley College is supporting Comic Relief with a special dance-athon this evening, including a Zumba Mash-Up and Body Jam sessions, while Rotherham charity Rush House will celebrate in style with a Wear Something Funny for Money coffee morning and baking sale.

Youngsters at Mowbray Gardens children’s centre will be holding a Wear It Read day and taking part in a sponsored run, and pupils from schools including Anston Park Infants and Rawmarsh Comprehensive have invited children to come in fancy dress.

Events taking place in Rotherham include a charity car wash at the Perrys car dealership in Parkgate and a “bake-off” at Dalton Foljambe School to a sponsored head shave at Andrew Jaks hair salon in Whiston.
