Cupcakes continue to top the cake trend

CUPCAKES are growing in popularity and this endearing reception trend is being celebrated later this year with National Cupcake Week.

The event will take place from September 12 to 18 when outlets across the country will celebrate the occasion.

Cupcakes come in all different shapes and sizes and with the demand growing and growing, more and more suppliers are developing their ideas to keep up.

Cake supplier Cakes By Shelly, which counts Take That among their clients, said that now is the perfect time to celebrate cupcakes as a stylish and practical reception focal point.

Their new Couture Cupcake range features a rainbow of colours and variety of flavours that will get guests talking.

A new launch for summer 2011, the Couture Cupcake range is available in 11 flavours. Designs including delicate butterflies, bows, hearts and flowers can be viewed on the Cakes By Shelly Facebook page or by appointment.

Michelle Shulman, the creative brains behind Cakes By Shelly, said: “You can get cupcakes for any occasion but my Couture Cupcakes range takes them up a notch for weddings.

“We just took our first Couture Cupcake order. The bride loved the different designs so much she ordered cakes in every type, with a running colour theme, green.

“They will go perfectly with her vintage, shabby chic reception.

“I love the hydrangea cupcake design. They look stunning grouped together on a cake stand, almost like a hydrangea bush.”

Cupcakes can also double up as a table centre or favours at a wedding reception.
