Crowds flock to Wickersley charity cricket showdown
It was the tenth year of the fundraiser, which has backed causes including The Sick Children’s Trust, Childhood Cancer, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund and Bluebell Wood.
Event treasurer Peter Hulley said: “The event has always attracted a large number of guests from the community.

Hide Ad“Our three charities chosen this year were Rotherham Hospice, which has touched many of the club members and residents; Sheffield Hospitals Charity’s cystic fibrosis fun, because it affects a member’s son; and Alstrom syndrome UK, which is a rare and debilitating illness which affected 16-year-old Kion, whose family are members of the club.”
The event, which raised £5,750, included a barbecue and evening music event called Party on the Square.
Peter added: “Charities are chosen each year, usually defined by members of the club and surrounding area that have had need to use, or rely on them.”
