Crashing out of the X Factor is no problem for singer Imogen

Imogen (27), of Kimberworth Park, failed to make it through the boot camp stage after performing Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
But after a report in The Sun newspaper incorrectly reported she had been chosen by judge Simon Cowell as a member of a new girl band, Imogen’s own hit Bitten Twice Shy was chosen as the soundtrack to an unnamed film, which will be released next year.

“I woke up to the news that I was going to be in a girl band - it was all very bizarre.
“I just went along with it and one of my songs was chosen as the soundtrack for a film - it’s been a strange week.”
Imogen failed to make it through the boot camp stage of the X Factor after she sang the track in memory of her auntie’s partner Melvyn Hartland, who died earlier this year.

“It has always been my song so I sang it at boot camp and as I got to my high note I literally broke down.
“I tried to carry on, but it was a bit of a wobbly performance towards the end.”
Imogen said Melvyn, who used to run The Effingham Arms pub, was her “inspiration” after encouraging her to take to the mic on karaoke nights.

“But Nicole Scherzinger looked up and said: ‘I am sorry, you are going home.’
“I am keeping my options open and hope to release my first single by Christmas.”
