Could you be Miss South Yorkshire

THE search is underway to find the next Miss South Yorkshire — and potential entrants are being urged to challenge for the tiara.

Last year the Miss South Yorkshire contest succeeded in raising more than £10,000 for charity and saw two of its competitors head to the finals of Miss England.

Now the search is on for Miss South Yorkshire 2013 and event organiser Jill Faulkner is hoping for more entrants and greater success than ever before.

Jill said: “We are looking for a girl to represent South Yorkshire at the next Miss England final.

“It is not just about a pretty face, the winner will need to shine in personality as well as showing dedication and passion to worthwhile causes.

“We will be supporting local charities SAFE@LAST and Rotherham Hospice as well as the Miss World charity, Beauty With A Purpose, throughout the South Yorkshire heat.”

Entrants to the Miss South Yorkshire 2013 will have their fitness, fund-raising, creativity and talent put to the test in a series of challenges.

Last April, Caroline Welch, of Doncaster, was named as the youngest ever winner of the competition when she claimed the title aged just 17.

She eventually finished fourth in the Miss England Competition, ahead of fellow finalist Jaime-Lee Faulkner (22), from Brinsworth, who made it to the finals after winning a modelling competition to become Miss Modelzed.

Girls aged 17 to 24 on August 30 this year are eligible to enter Miss South Yorkshire, with final auditions set to take place on January 26.
