Community creativity shines at Ferham festival

DIVERSE communities came together to celebrate their creativity at a family-friendly summer festival.

Ferham Festival last Saturday was due to take place in Ferham Park but despite the sun shining in the morning, the soggy forecast led to a last-minute move into Liberty Church.

It still offered an abundance of things to make and do, thanks to a range of community groups.

Artful Make It Happen led colourful plate decorating workshops, while festival-goers had the chance to make bunting with Flux Rotherham and produce bark decorations with Rotherham and Sheffield Wildlife Trust.

Grimm and Co were on hand running all sorts of “magical” activities, including their wheel of magical creatures, which suggests what mythical creature the spinner might be.

The event, run by Flux, Rotherham Borough Council and Rotherham United Community Trust, also featured music and dancing, with the The Tamil Group performing a traditional Sri Lankan dance and a live DJ set.
