Clubbers wanted for Rotherham dance challenge

ENERGETIC clubbers are invited to strut their stuff in a 12-hour dance marathon raising money for Rotherham Hospice.

DJs already signed up to play sets for those dancing the night away include Seani B from BBC Radio 1Xtra, Nicky Blackmarket and TOWIE’s Darrell Privett.

It takes place at Magna from 9pm next Friday, March 21, and goes on until 9am the following morning.

Participants at the event — called DM1 — will be asked to enter teams of two or four.

Half the team has to be dancing at all times, allowing everyone to dance for an hour and then rest for 30 minutes throughout the night.

And while they are not on the dancefloor, participants can enjoy the chill-out area, furnished with giant Scalextrics, a bucking bronco, food stalls and a bar.

DM1 is free to enter but dancers are asked to set a minimum fund-raising target of £50, which can be taken in on the night.

A fund-raising pack will be provided on registration with ideas of how to raise the money and letters of appeal to give family and friends.

Hospice fund-raising and lottery manager Colin Cawood-Campbell said: “We are really excited about this event, and in particular welcoming our celebrity DJs.

“We want as many people as possible to get involved and enjoy the night. It’s easy to register and you can fund-raise in any way, from asking family and friends to sponsor you, to bag packing in your local supermarket or washing neighbours cars.”

Other DJs sets will come from the University of Sheffield’s Forge Radio.

To register for DM1, visit www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk and fill in the contact form, or call the fund-raising team on 01709 308917.
