Clothes swap to aid fight against HIV

HIV charity Shield is planning a "frock swap" night in Rotherham to increase awareness and support.

The idea of the fund-raiser is to bring along old clothing and make a donation to pick up other items which take your fancy.

Volunteer Joanne Housley said: “The idea is to donate clothes, shoes, bags and accessories which is still in decent condition, maybe just things that you don’t wear anymore or don’t fit.

“Everything will be sorted out and placed onto rails on the night, when everyone coming can basically help themselves to whatever takes their fancy.

“All we’ve asked is that a small donation for each item would be greatly appreciated.”

There will also be live music and a raffle with prizes including coach trips, football tickets and meal vouchers.

The event takes place at the Trades Club on Friday, April 19, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 from 0114 278 7916.

Joanne said: “We support a lot of clients across South Yorkshire who often feel very alone and isolated when they first get diagnosed.

“We rely a lot of fund-raising to keep our charity going, so it’s important to raise as much money as we can.”
