MORE than 40 cinema-goers took a step back in time to watch “a rich portrait” of a Rotherham film-maker, and the landscapes and industries he captured, on the silver screen.

Archive footage by Charles Chislett, who was active between the 1930s and 60s, was shown during “Nature Matters: Charles Chislett”.

The screening was organised by Artful Make it Happen at the Chislett Centre on Kimberworth Park Road.

Artful founder Vicky Hilton said: “The screening was a huge success with over 40 people who came along to watch the film.

“It was a rich portrait of the Rotherham film-maker – through his lens he captured a whole host of subjects from his family holidays and coastal scenes to local industry and bird-watching.

“A huge thank you to Cinema For All for supporting our project and our partners at Yorkshire Film Archives for creating such a special film.”
