Charities say ‘Cheers’ to Rotherham Real Ale festival

ORGANISERS of Rotherham’s biggest party are out to prove that “there’s no place like Rome” after donning togas to celebrate raising £40,000 for local good causes.

The proceeds of the 21st Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival will be divided equally between Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, the Rotherham Hospice, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and the Magna educational trust, with each receiving a £10,000 share from the proceeds raised at the 2013 festival.

The festival team is now turning its attention to next year’s event at Magna from March 5-8 with a theme of “The Ales of March”, tipping a nod to Julius Caesar.

The aim is to bring a taste of Rome to Rotherham, featuring real ales that have been chosen from areas in the UK known for having a strong connection to the ancient Roman Empire.
