Chance to show off your artistic talent at culture festival

BUDDING artists are being given the opportunity to inject some culture into the town centre as part of a display of the best artwork Rotherham has to offer.

Rotherham Culture Company have teamed up with Open Minds Theatre Company to organise this year’s Open Arts Festival and is looking for eight of the borough’s top talents to display their work.

Last year, more than 3,000 people visited the annual arts showcase at The Old Markets Gallery on Corporation Street.

This year the event will take place throughout November and organisers are urging artists to submit samples of their work now to be in with a chance of having their work displayed to the public.

Vicky Hilton, gallery co-ordinator for Rotherham Culture Company, said: “The Open Arts Festival has proved a huge success in past years, it’s become a highlight of the town centre calendar and we want this year’s to be better than ever.

“Rotherham has some fantastic artistic talent and this is their chance to let the public see what they can do.

“We want as many artists to come forward as possible so that we can do justice to the creativity there is in the town.”

This year will mark the fifth year for the Rotherham Open Arts Festival.

Artists should submit their work early to guarantee consideration by a panel of judges who will select the work of eight artists to feature at this year’s event.
