Book in for National Libraries day

ROTHERHAM’S libraries are hoping to encourage readers to explore their shelves during National Libraries day this weekend.

Fourteen of the borough’s libraries are taking part, including the ew Central Library at Riverside House, where visitors can add miniature characters of themselves to the Where's Wally in the Library? backdrop.

Cllr Amy Rushforth, cabinet member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, urged the public to visit their libraries to see what was on offer.

She said: "If you have not visited one for a while you will be pleasantly surprised. Rotherham's ambitious programme of library modernisation, including the opening of six new library buildings in six years, has resulted in some great buildings that offer a great service.

“If you regularly use one library, why not visit another? If you never visit a library then why not go along, join and see what your local library has to offer?"

National Libraries Day is an annual celebration of the work done in school, college, university, the workplace and public libraries to promote learning, literacy and the enjoyment of reading to all.
