Sporty Hayley Cassin (15) was nominated for the prize by her mother, Susan, who described her as a hero.

The teen, who has cerebral palsy diplegia and a displaced hip as well as other complex medical needs, was picked from hundreds of nominations from across the UK to win the category of Inspirational Young Person.

Despite her medical conditions, Hayley strives to not only live her life to its fullest, but also help others in need.

She has helped raise £100,000 through singing for a charity choir and plays wheelchair basketball for the Sheffield Steelers and wheelchair rugby for team GB’s development team, Leicester Tigers and Yorkshire Lions.

Hayley said: “I’m not disabled, I’m differently abled”.

Mum Susan said: “I’m in awe of her. Hayley is an amazing and child who always promotes wellbeing.

“She has pushed through so much adversity, and she oozes positivity, fun and encouragement.”
