A Saturday club for young artists

A COLLEGE is launching a new social club for budding young artists.

Rotherham College has joined the National Saturday Club network and is setting up a new art and design “Saturday Club” for 13- to 16-year-olds.

Free and open to young people of all abilities, the club will run from this Saturday, November 5, onwards at the college’s town centre campus.

The National Saturday Club offers young people the chance to explore subjects they love for free, build new skills, discover new talents and make friends, as well as getting a taste of college life.

Weekly Saturday classes will be led by college tutors across a range of art and design topics, while club members can take part in national network events including masterclasses with industry professionals.

The academic year will be topped off by a summer exhibition and a graduation ceremony.

Dave Smith, Rotherham College’s campus manager, said: “We are delighted to finally launch the Saturday Club at Rotherham College.

“This club will give young people the perfect opportunity to discover new subjects and develop new passions, whilst also familiarising themselves with our fantastic on-campus facilities.

“The Saturday Club will act as a perfect stepping stone to ease those aged 13 to 16 into further education.”
