A crafty Easter in store for Bluebell Wood children

Six-year-old Evie-Mae O’Grady has a rare chromosome disorder meaning she cannot walk or talk and must be fed intravenously.

Mum Keeley said: “When Evie-Mae was three, her stomach and bowels stopped working properly and she had to start being fed directly into her veins. 

“Evie-Mae relies on me for all her care needs so visiting Bluebell Wood means we can have a break and relax as a family. 

“When she’s here, Evie-Mae loves playing in the sensory room and making arts and crafts with the care team.”

Bluebell Wood is asking supporters to donate the cost of an Easter egg rather than sending chocolate goodies next month.

Activity coordinator Diane Price said: “We’re always overwhelmed by people’s generosity and kindness, but we need to be sure that we can put any donations to the best possible use. 

“At Easter, we often receive chocolate eggs, but sadly cannot give them to many of our children for health reasons. 

“However, our children have lots of fun making Easter crafts so if people could donate the price of an egg that would help us do more fun things like this.”

Keeley added: “By donating just £3, the price of an Easter egg, you can help children like Evie-Mae enjoy Easter without the chocolate, by getting crafty in their messy play room and creating special memories they can treasure all year round.”
