Another amazing afternoon at the Pastures Lodge on Monday 12th May, as the Rotherham Advertiser hosted another of their tribute afternoons.  This was the first 1970’s themed afternoon stages by the newspaper and will over 100 people attending on the day, it proved very successful

Jean and Alvin were among the audience and they were celebrating their  Golden Wedding Anniversary and Janet North from Barnsley and Diane Gutteridge from Warmsworth were each celebrating 70th birthdays.  A well deserved retirement from the NHS was being celebrated on the day by Chris Copeman of Doncaster and Althorpe Lodge were visiting on the day from Dinnington, after the last 1960’s event they enjoyed it so much that they just had to make a return visit.

The Rotherham Advertiser’s own Charlie Graves, opened up the show with a half hour performance of popular songs including hits including The Wonder of You by Elvis Presley.  It was a fantastic afternoon with guest tributes to Elton John who then opened up the two hour tribute show.  Elton was then joined on stage by a tribute to Kiki Dee, followed by Olivia Newton- John and the Carpenters.  The first half of the show was then closed by Lorrie Brown with her tribute to Kate Bush performing Wuthering Heights.

A short interval was followed by the second half, which was a full hour of a tribute to Abba, featuring all their favourite hits, Waterloo, Knowing Me Knowing You, Chicatita, Thankyou for the Music and of course, Dancing Queen.

The dance floor was packed throughout and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.  The next event to held at the Pastures by the Advertiser is a Rat Pack Afternoon on Monday 30th June, this includes a two course meal and a full afternoon of entertainment from tributes to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior with guest tributes to Doris Day and Marilyn Monroe.  Tickets are £20

Vera Lynn and George Formby are also back for a return visit on Tuesday 29th July for a 1940’s afternoon, again with a two course meal, tickets are £16

Tickets for both these events are now on sale from our Events Ticket Line on 01709 571111 or by calling in at the Pastures Lodge.
