UKRAINIAN refugees will be guests of honour of a theatre company next week as they bring their latest show to the stage.

Wales Community Theatre Players latest show, Showstoppers, makes its bow at Dinnington’s Lyric Theatre next Thursday to Saturday, (July 13 to 15).

Refugees living in the area will enjoy a free ticket to the show, after the amateur performance group secured grant funding.

Trustee Joseph Bairstow said: “For several years we have welcomed local children in need and young careers to our annual panto who might not otherwise get the chance to experience live theatre.

“Now we’re delighted to welcome Ukrainians to Showstoppers, a fantastic night out of song and dance, in the hope it

can offer some relief in the most difficult of times and bring the community together.”

Showstoppers: A Night at the Musicals is a “rafter-raising” collection of well-known show tunes, featuring songs from hit musicals like Anything Goes, Matilda, Six and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and familiar faces of WCTP - which has been running since 1940 - alongside newcomers.

Joseph added: “Working together with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and thanks to a grant from Magic Little Grants, through the partnership between Localgiving and Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, we have been able to offer this

amazing experience to Ukrainian refugees and their hosts.

“We can’t wait to entertain them and get our audience smiling with joy.”

Tickets for Showstoppers: A Night at the Musicals are available from walesctp.com or on 0114 383 0383.
