Sixties relived as musical shows come to Cast

THERE will be a definite sense of the swinging Sixties as music from the era comes to the stage this Spring.

The Cast Theatre in Doncaster has a series of shows through till May featuring Sixties chart toppers and some of the best-known songs ever performed.

Sixties Mersey band The Swinging Blue Jeans will be in performance on Wednesday, February 15, from 7.30pm who will be performing such classics as Hippy Hippy Shake, Good Golly Miss Molly, You’re No Good, It’s Too Late Now and Don’t Make Me Over.

Tickets to the show will cost £18 or £16 concessions.

Billy Fury’s band Furys’ Tornados will be in performance on Thursday, February 23, with the 20th anniversary tour of Halfway to Paradise — The Billy Fury Story.

Colin Gold will star as the late Billy Fury in the show which kicks off at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20.

Cast welcomes back BBC Radio 2 celebrity Paul Jones and original members of Sixties hit-makers Manfred Mann — performing at The Manfreds — on Friday, March 24, again from 7.30pm.

The band will be performing their 1960s hits such as 5-4-3-2-1, Doo Wah Diddy Diddy, Pretty Flamingo and Come Tomorrow.

Tickets cost £20.

With total record sales well in excess of 50 million, The Searchers return to Cast on Sunday, May 7, with a show featuring classic hits including Sweets For My Sweet, Needles and Pins, Don’t Throw Your Love Away, Sugar and Spice and When You Walk In The Room. 

The Searchers are John McNally, Frank Allen, Spencer James and Scott Ottaway and they will be performance from 7.30pm, with tickets costing £20.

Some Guys Have All the Luck on Saturday, May 20, celebrates the life and career of Rod Stewart, one of rock music’s greatest icons, telling his story from street busker to international superstar.

Starring Paul Metcalfe and featuring a live band, the stage show is crammed full of hits such as Maggie May, Sailing, Baby Jane, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, Tonight’s The Night, The First Cut Is The Deepest and You’re In My Heart.

The show will begin at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £20.
