Magna closes for £100,000 refurbishment
An upturn in visitor numbers and events revenue has paid for the investment at the science centre in Templeborough.
The former steelworks will reopen on January 8 after six weeks of improvement works in the main exhibition areas.

“The whole Magna team have worked tirelessly to increase visitor numbers and
improve efficiency.
“We live and breathe our charity mission, to keep the vibrant steel heritage alive through education, and this investment is key to our future.”
On taking over earlier this year, Mr Tomlinson said the strategy was to attract more varied events to fund the science exhibits.

Visitor numbers were up 17 per cent in 2017/18 — and in August more than 42,000 attended the museum or play parks.
Mr Tomlinson said: “Please bear with us while the maintenance is taking place.
“From January 2019 when you do visit, either for the first time or with your annual pass, please tell a friend, buy a coffee, purchase a souvenir, or book onto one of our many events.
