But this production by Phoenix — who have ticked off their 90th anniversary and celebrated several members completing multiple decades of performing last October – will see veteran director and actor Julie Webb reaching the impressive personal landmark of 60 shows with the company.

Julie said she was relishing the chance to stage Charley’s Aunt, which enjoyed success in Broadway and Paris as well as London’s West End.

There have also been many West End revivals, with many famous actors involved including Noel Coward, John Gielgud, Rex Harrison, John Mills, Frankie Howerd and Danny La Rue.

Julie said: “I always enjoy the extra dimensions of a period piece – the behaviour of the characters, the costuming and finding suitable properties.

“Although it is over 125 years since it was written, we still share the same humour, so come and join in the fun with us at the Civic.”

Phoenix’s performances are all at 7.15pm.
