Advertiser takes Chuckle Square campaign to Rotherham Town Hall

COUNCILLORS have been discussing our Chuckle Square campaign in public for the first time this morning (Wednesday).

Advertiser reporter Gareth Dennison put our case to Rotherham Borough Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Management Board in the town hall chamber.

Our campaign calls for the area outside Boots, where Howard Street crosses Effingham Street, to be officially named Chuckle Square in tribute to the Chuckle Brothers.

Members of the committee discussed the proposal among other agenda items  before adjourning their meeting for a lunch break, with the prospect that a decision could be made and announced this afternoon.

The council verified nearly 700 signatures on our Chuckle Square petition, which we handed in as the Advertiser's Christmas present to RMBC in December.
