Your chance to quiz sports stars

EVER wondered how professional rugby players make the snap decisions that can turn a game in their favour? Or what it’s like to hurtle down a bobsleigh track at 100 mph? Or marvelled at how an athlete stays in peak condition?

A free event taking place at Rotherham’s Hellaby Hall on Thursday will give people the chance to ask local sporting personalities these questions and more.

People can put their questions to Olympic and Commonwealth medal winner Peter Elliott, world champion bobsleigh driver Nicola Minichiello and Rotherham Titans fly-half Peter Swatkins.

They will be joined by top physiologist, professor Edward Winter from Sheffield Hallam University, who will talk about exactly what it takes to keep a top athlete in shape and his experiences of helping world class athletes prepare for success.

The event will give the audience an opportunity to put questions to the panel and find out what it takes to get to the top in sport.

Sheffield Hallam University is delivering this event in association with BBC Radio Sheffield and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Tickets are free but there will be fund-raising activity on the night by the Rotherham Mayor’s nominated charities.

The event takes place at 7:30pm on Thursday 10 March at Hellaby Hall, Rotherham. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance on the Sheffield Hallam website: http://bit.ly/etKo1i
