Youngsters hang on to claim festival triumph

ROTHERHAM'S U9s raised the bar when they won the Driffield Festival Bowl.

The youngsters beat Pocklington 4-3 on tries in an entertaining game, playing to a high standard.

Fresh from a 4-0 win over Doncaster in the semi-final, they were in no mood to let any team get in the way of a win.

They went in front when Isaac Winstanley touched down after a blistering run before Pockington equalised.

Rotherham pressed hard and Joe Bridger scored the second before grabbing his second to make it 3-1 at the break.

The second half saw each team turn the ball over several times and Pocklington ensured a tight finish when they made it 3-2.

Winstanley gave his side some breathing space with Rotherham's fourth try but the opposition pulled another back and then drove for a leveller, only for the Clifton Lane youngsters to hang on.
