Woodhouse: I want that title

IT’S what Curtis Woodhouse turned his back on professional football for — and tonight at Magna, the former million-pound man can make his dream a reality.

Woodhouse, now 32, fight’s Derby’s Dave Ryan for the vacant English light-welterweight crown in the bill-topper at the Rotherham show.

He was convincingly beaten last time out by Dale Miles after suffering a broken cheekbone and many thought that the former midfielder, signed for £1 million by Birmingham City from Sheffield United before spending five months on loan with the Millers, had come to the end of the boxing road.

But Woodhouse has knuckled down in training and is now ready to rumble against an opponent who has lost six of his 13 outings but is nevertheless a highly dangerous opponent.

"It was tough coming back from the fractured cheekbone and this has been a hard training camp,” he says.

"But I'm in good condition now and I'm ready to become champion."

Tickets are available at the door and the show starts at 7pm
