Wilson signs in

ROTHERHAM United have confirmed the signing of experienced defender Kelvin Wilson.

The Millers are understood to have beaten Coventry City, among other clubs, to the signature of the 30-year-old centre-half, who was a free agent after his contract ended at Nottingham Forest this summer. He has signed a one-year deal.

Wilson started his career with Notts County before moving to Preston and then Forest. He switched to Celtic in 2011, impressing in a Champions League tie against Barcelona, and it took a fee of £2.5 million to take him back to the City Ground three years ago.

It is understood he has been on trial at Coventry.

Wilson becomes Alan Stubbs’ fifth summer signing and he will join up with the squad tomorrow ahead of the big kick off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
