Willett set to go for Rio gold

GOLF ace Danny Willett is on course to make history next year – by playing in the first Olympic golf tournament for over a century.

After a stellar 2015 which saw the Rotherham star finish second in the Race to Dubai, the chase is now on for qualification places for the Rio games.

A concerted campaign to get the sport back on the Olympic roster means golf medals will be up for grabs for the first time since 1904.

And Willett is currently sitting pretty in the qualification stakes.

The 28-year-old is currently 14th in the Official World Golf Ranking with fellow Brit Justin Rose in seventh.

There's more on this, and a kind charity donation from Danny, in this week's Advertiser.
