We showed character, says Evans

STEVE Evans saluted his Rotherham United players after they dug out a win against struggling Stevenage despite being below par.
A late goal from Lee Frecklington clinched a 2-1 victory at the New York Stadium after Francois Zoko’s equaliser moments earlier had looked like earning the battling visitors a deserved point. Wes Thomas had opened the scoring just before half time with his second goal in as many games.

The players will run until they’ve nothing left and they did that again today. We take pride in that win. It’s as equally as good a victory as we’ve had all season and Lee Frecklington’s goal was a stunning finish. To score from that position at that stage of the game when the pressure was on was deserving of the acclaim that the kop gave him.”
The Millers’ third win on the spin keeps them fifth in League One. With 16 games to go, Evans is aiming to keep pressing the teams above but accepts that a play-off place is the more realistic goal.
