We can win title, says Town skipper

TOWN are gearing up for six massive weeks in their quest to bring the Yorkshire League crown to Clifton Lane — but skipper Mark Cummins says confidence is booming at the club.

And for the first time he has admitted that Rotherham can win the title.

Saturday’s comfortable six-wicket win over prickly Appleby Frodingham keeps the Lane men in pole position, one point ahead of rivals Barnsley.

But their destiny will, says Cummins, be shaped by the next clutch of games which sees some tough fixtures, starting with tomorrow’s trip to Yorkshire Academy. They also have to face the Shaw Lane side and multi-champions York.

“We have six huge weeks looming and after that we’ll know whether we have a chance,” says Cummins.

“But the way we are playing we have nothing to fear. I’ve been saying that we aren’t quite good enough but now I’ll be honest and say that we can go all the way and win the title."
