Wasps head coach Dai Young on Lee Blackett

News broke this morning that Titans head coach Lee Blackett would be leaving Clifton Lane at the end of the season to join London Wasps.

He will be joining their staff as the backs coach, working under head coach Dai Young.

Young said of Blackett: “Lee [Blackett] is one of the brightest young coaches in Britain, who has won admiration throughout the game for how he’s turned Rotherham Titans into one of the strongest teams outside of the Premiership.

“He has impressed knowledgeable onlookers by his attention to detail, enthusiasm and professionalism and his proven ability to get the best out of the players he coaches.

“Lee has a good few years coaching experience under his belt, most recently as Head Coach in the Championship and he showed tremendous leadership in taking Rotherham to a top four finish last season.

“His attacking mind-set should also suit our squad of players, particularly the attacking threats we have in the backline. Last season he masterminded a style of rugby which saw Rotherham finish the season as the second highest points scorers in the Championship, smashing Rotherham’s previous record by 222 points.

“We also believe he is the type of character who will fit in very well to the environment we have established here at Wasps.”
