Walking Football launch

A NEW league is being set up to meet the rising demand for Walking Football.

Teams from Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield are invited to join, with a choice of matches on Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings.

Walking Football was set up mainly aimed at 50-plus participants but others can and do play.

Participants have benefited from lower heart and blood pressure, less fat and more muscle and better mobility.

Organised by the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA, the league has a one-off £10 entry fee per team to provide public liability insurance and affiliation to the County FA and teams pay £15 per match fee to cover facility hire and payment to referees.

Venues include the Rotherham Indoor Football Centre at Eastwood.
