ROTHERHAM United will bring in a midfielder tomorrow, with Ryan Yates and Richie Towell the two in the frame.

Manager Paul Warne told tonight’s fans’ forum at the AESSEAL New York Stadium that he is on the verge of wrapping up a loan deal and he re-affirmed his interest in Nottingham Forest prospect Yates and long-term target Towell.

He said: “Ryan Yates is a sitting midfielder, Richie Towell more of a front foot midfielder, and either would be excellent for Rotherham United. I have my own preference and hopefully it will come to fruition tonight.”

Towell is out of the first team picture at his parent club Brighton and needs regular football. Rotherham built bridges with the 27-year-old last year in his season-long stay which ended with a victory in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

Ryan Yates...seeking new challenge out on loan.

Yates, still only 20, is well regarded at Forest. He had a strong pre-season and has spent time at Shrewsbury, Notts County and Scunthorpe but manager Aitor Karanka wants him to go out and play at a higher level and would have no qualms with him coming to Rotherham.

“It would be a good move for him,” said Karanka. “Ryan is hungry, he is a good professional and he leaves every single training session having given everything.”

Any deal will have to be concluded by tomorrow’s 5pm deadline for loans.
