RONNIE Moore shouldn't be left to shoulder the blame when things go wrong for the Millers, insists midfielder Danny Harrison.

Despite the morale-boosting win over Dagenham, the 27-year-old admits that the players have let the boss down in recent matches by not justifying his confidence in picking them.

Moore has criticised his players, especially after Saturday's defeat at Darlington, for not carrying out his orders.

That view didn't wash with supporters who called for Moore's head at the end of that match but Harrison says that the manager's critics need to cut him some slack as the season unfolds.

"Every manager is their own man and they have their own ideas about the way things should be done, but the bottom line is that the buck stops with us," he said.

"The manager can only pick a team he thinks is going to win. He can't do things for us on the pitch.

"We let him down and the fans down last Saturday. The sort of things we heard from the fans are always going to happen in football but the players know we've not been good enough in some games. It is only us who can turn it around. No-one else."

After twice being embarrassed by rock bottom Darlington, third-bottom Lincoln City present another potential banana skin for the Millers tomorrow.

Acutely aware of the need to avoid another upset and build upon the Daggers three-pointer, Harrison said: "We have to be putting the lower sides to bed now.

"Lincoln are the sort of team we need to be beating but to be honest we need to be beating all the teams if we want to go up automatic."

After being subbed at Darlo on Saturday, unsung hero Harrison was back in the good books for a typically combative display in the midfield engine room on Tuesday.

Acknowledging his contribution, Moore said: "No-one mentioned him but he did brilliantly for the team. He got blocks tackles in, won good headers. I was pleased with him."
