We're all in this together, says Warnock

NEW Rotherham United boss Neil Warnock doesn’t want the players to be daunted by the Championship in the crucial final months of the season.

The experienced manager, taking charge of his 14th club, has inherited a side three points from safety and facing a hard run of matches against leading sides, starting at home to Birmingham City tomorrow.

But meeting the assembled media for the first time today, he said the Millers can stay up and could find inspiration from over-performing clubs in other leagues.

He said: “This is as big a challenge as I have had and that’s not being disrespectful to the club, it has moved on so much in the last two years, far more than anybody could ever have predicted and that was down to the chairman and Steve Evans, who did a good job for so long.

“When you look around the table, you might not think you’re at a big club. But I look at Leicester in the Premier League and I’m proud they’re up there and at Burton in League One. Money doesn’t guarantee to win you anything and from my experience it causes you more problems.

“This is why the Championship is my level, because I love the cut and thrust.”

Warnock has signed a deal initially until the end of the season and said he was excited by the challenge at the AESSEAL New York Stadium and had been encouraged by what he saw in training this morning.

And he said the ingredients for success remained the same as when he first started in the game.

“Nothing changes, it’s about getting the most out of the lads,” he added. “For a club like Rotherham to be holding their own in the Championship is a fabulous achievement.

“All I’ve asked the players is to give me 100 per cent and not to be worried about making mistakes. We are all in it together.”

Boosted by Warnock's arrival, a crowd of 11,000 is expected tomorrow.
