Warne looking for "something different" as Tigers come to town

ROTHERHAM United boss Paul Warne has hinted that midfield isn't his only focus as he looks to make a final signing before the loans window closes.

The arrival of Ryan Manning on loan from QPR offers a much needed extra option in the middle of the park and the 22-year-old will be in contention for a start when Hull City come to the AESSEAL New York Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

Although Warne would like another central midfielder through the door before the end of the month, he also has an eye on other attacking areas.

"I would like something different, something else in the middle of the park or out wide or up top," he said.

"I have four loans. I know you can have as many loans as you like but you can only name so many in the squad, so I don't like having more than the allocated number unless something amazing comes up.

"If someone becomes available who will improve us then I will take it. There are a couple we are talking to but as with everything, it is about what their options are or whether their manager is going to let them out."

The Millers have a clean bill of health for tonight's clash with the Tigers.

Rotherham's only Champonship win, at home to Ipswich, has been sandwiched by defeats at Brentford and Leeds while Hull have collected just one point from nine, their poorest start in 12 years.

While Nigel Adkins' side have lost some important players and are being tipped to struggle, Warne won't be taken in by their poor form and says it won't influence how his team approaches the game.

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins.

He added: "If Hull would have won their last three, I would still have wanted to go toe-to-toe and try and win. The fact that they haven't might make it look an easier game from an outsider's point of view but I don't think there are easy matches in the Championship, as Leeds found out against us on Saturday.

"I've watched all three of Hull's (league) games and they have been more than competitive but people go by results, I understand that. It will be a very tough one for us.

"All our home matches are crucial. We have got to try and take the game to Hull better than we did against Ipswich and strive for the points."
