Warne delighted to get Manning deal done

MILLERS boss Paul Warne says he is "surprised and pleased" to have landed QPR midfielder Ryan Manning on loan.

The 22-year-old Irishman has arrived on a season-long deal and goes straight into contention for Saturday's match at Leeds.

Manning joined QPR three years ago and has made around 20 appearances in each of the last two seasons, also chipping in with a couple of goals last term.

Warne said: "Ryan played for QPR against Preston last week and played 21 games in the Championship last season and 18 the year before.

"I have spoken to a few people about him personally and spoken to him at length as well. I really like the kid, he really wants the challenge. He is left footed and has a good engine.

"I'm surprised and pleased QPR have let him out on loan and that is good for us.

"He is the type we want and I am really pleased to get it over the line so quickly."

Manning started his career in his native Ireland before he was brought to Loftus Road at the start of 2015 by then Rangers boss Harry Redknapp.

He was handed his first team breakthrough by Ian Holloway and has steadily built his experience. Born in Galway, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level.

Added Warne: "With any luck he will be included in the squad for the weekend."

Manning becomes the club's seventh new arrival of the summer following Marek Rodak, Zak Vyner, Clark Robertson, Kyle Vassell, Sean Raggett and Billy Jones.
