Video: Bloodhound SSC build closes in on speed record

HOW long does it take to build a car capable of travelling at over 1,000mph?

Not more than a few minutes if this 90 second video from the fast-moving team on the Bloodhound SSC project is anything to go by...

In the latest in a series of videos documenting the progress of Richard Noble’s ambitious bid to break the world land speed record technicians are seen fitting pilot Andy Green into the rocket-propelled vehicle’s cockpit.

The video also gives glimpses of the huge EJ200 jet from a Eurofighter Typhoon which will power the Bloodhound on its record-breaking run in South Africa and the 550bhp Supercharged Jaguar V8 which will be used solely as a fuel pump.

Bloodhound SSC is currently being assembled at the BLOODHOUND Technical Centre in Bristol, UK.

It is on schedule for completion this summer, before runway testing up to 200mph Aerohub, Newquay.

The team will then deploy to South Africa to begin high speed testing with the target of reaching 800mph, with full-speed runs scheduled for next year.
