Treeton chase top title

ALL roads lead to Hull on Sunday when Rotherham big guns Treeton bid for the county’s top title.

They take on South Yorkshire Senior League rivals Whitley Hall in the Yorkshire Council play-off final at Hull YPI.

The Washfield Lane outfit beat Ackworth in the semi-finals last weekend but there have been questions as to why the match cannot be staged closer to home.

A spokesman said: “The Yorkshire Council is made up of four Leagues, namely the Central Yorkshire League, Pontefract and District League, East Yorkshire Alliance and the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League.

“Competition rules say that the staging of finals must be on a rota basis with each league getting the opportunity every four years. It is East Yorkshire’s turn this year.

“Let’s hope our clubs can repeat this next year when it is the turn of the South Yorkshire League to stage the finals.”

Start time on Sunday is noon.
