Titans gear up for Cambridge exam

ROTHERHAM Titans will be asked to rediscover their clinical streak when they return to National One action tomorrow.

After rattling off five straight wins, Titans' good run ended in a 22-8 defeat at Ampthill a fortnight ago.

That result leaves them still well placed in fifth spot in National One ahead of tomorrow's visit of Cambridge but, to stay in contention, head coach Joe Barker knows his team need to turn their pressure into points, something that eluded them last time out.

“We made errors at Ampthill we haven't been making,” he said. “We were in their 22 more than five times in the first half but didn't come away with enough points.

“It's a learning curve and we have young players who have not been in situations like that  before. Good teams find a way of getting results when things aren't necessarily going well. We have to learn from it and find a way to get a result from that sort of game next time.”

Cambridge have had a mixed season, winning four and losing five matches alongside an opening-day 36-36 draw with Sale FC.

Rotherham have made four changes to their starting XV. In the forwards, Will Dennis and Conor Keys return for Rikki Stout and Tom Cotterill. In the backs, Alex Dolly is back in at scrum half for Connor Dever while Sam Allan comes in for his debut at full back in place of Callum Irvine.

Kick-off is 2pm.

Team in full: 15 Sam Allan, 14 Henry Roberts, 13 Jamie Cooke, 12 Ellis Abrahams, 11 Connor Field, 10 Joe Barker, 9 Alex Dolly, 1 Dan Richardson, 2 Ali Thomson, 3 Will Dennis, 4 Jamie Ure, 5 Conor Keys, 6 Tom Cotterill, 7 Zak Poole, 8 Seb Nagle-Taylor.
