His departure comes as a shock, with Titans unbeaten in fourth place in National Two North.

Salvin was in his second spell at the club, having been at Clifton Lane for three years before leaving in 2017 and working in the Yorkshire Academy set-up.

He returned to Clifton Lane last January after the departure of Anthony Posa when the team was struggling in National One.

Relegation followed on a mathematical formula when the season was cut short last year due to Covid but Salvin has helped bring fresh hope to the Titans since rugby re-started, overseeing a stronger, more experienced team.

His departure has been greeted by sadness from supporters on social media.

Rotherham are due to return to action away to Chester on Saturday.
