Sporting session makes good Sense for the disabled

TABLE tennis, football and Bollywood dancing were just a few of the activities on offer at a special event aimed at helping people with disabilities get sporty.

The day of sport and socialising was organised by national disability charity Sense last Thursday at Rotherham Leisure Complex.

Arranged as part of ukactive's European Week of Sport, it also featured boccia, swimming and wheelchair basketball and aimed to provide free access to sporting facilities for people with a range of complex disabilities.

Paul Downes, regional sports coordinator at Sense, said: “As one of the lead partners for ukactive’s European Week of Sports, we have been really looking forward to providing fun, accessible and inclusive sport and physical activities. We believe that everyone deserves the right to enjoy a physically active life, no matter how complex their disabilities are.”
