Sporting achievers in the spotlight

ROTHERHAM United's Community Sports Trust has nominated six young individuals for the Advertiser's Young Achievers Awards 2010.

The prestigious prize will go to an inspirational youngster from the region who deserves recognition for their courage and sportsmanship.

Following the Trust's successful Young Person of the Year awards and the Junior Young Person accolade, six youngsters have now been put forward for the Advertiser prize.

The six nominees—Regan Fell, Daniel Hudson, Junaid Mahmood, Debbie Cocking, Jack Bancroft and Jack Shaw—have excelled in both the Trusts' Sporting Heroes Project and United for Communities Project.

The Millers' cohesion officer, Mark Cummins, said: "These six individuals have all at some stage triumphed over adversity and displayed high levels of sportsmanship and commitment.

"They are all a shining example to us all and we are proud to put them forward for this prestigious accolade."
