South Yorkshire Senior League cricket fixture called off pending investigation
SATURDAY'S South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League match between Whiston Parish Church and Oughtibridge has been called off pending investigations into an incident at the same fixture last weekend.
Part way into their innings, home team Oughtibridge refused to play on after what the league's report described as an "unpleasant incident". The umpires abandoned the game as a result.
The two were due to meet against at Whiston in the Championship this weekend.
A league statement said: "Saturday's match at Whiston PC v Oughtibridge has been postponed pending the ongoing investigation into the incident at Oughtibridge on Sunday, 23rd August."
